Burlington, This is You! Work Sample Screening

Free RSVP

Since 1984, Burlington Vermont’s Chittenden Community Television (CCTV) has pioneered community media as a platform for activism and progressive change. Through its hyperlocal struggles, CCTV’s archives tell the larger story of its community’s struggle for social and economic justice while its leaders fight against corporate control of local information and access.   BURLINGTON, THIS IS YOU! excavates CCTV’s 40 year archive, documenting its pro-democracy work and the efforts of countless local change makers as it lays the groundwork for the next generation of media activists.

Join us for a preview of the unfinished work sample to test sample scenes, plot points and formal approaches.  Followed by a Q&A with co-director Myles David Jewell and co-director/participant Lauren-Glenn Davitian in attendance to discuss the work and importance of community media access and also how the project can be an anatomy of activism. What are the lessons we can glean from the 40 year history of media activism as enacted by Community Media Access?  Why is this work important for democracy?
