The Golden Spurtle

The Golden Spurtle showcases the tradition, practice, and passion that can be found in a humble bowl of porridge. Annually, people from across the globe travel to the Scottish Highlands to compete in the World Porridge Making Championship. Though simple in ingredients–just oats, salt, and water–porridge becomes the object of intense love and fervor. Constantine Costi’s heartwarming and quirky documentary follows an eccentric cast from the “Chieftain” in his final year overseeing the competition to the returning champion and porridge “queen.” A wholesome portrait of a community that, even in competition, remains united by a shared goal: to “let the oats sing!”
