From acclaimed visual artist and music video director Kahlil Joseph, BLKNWS: Terms & Conditions is a “cinematic experience that mirrors the sonic textures of a music album.” Interweaving fiction and documentary, the film boldly defines the terms of W.E.B. Du Bois’ unfinished Encyclopedia Africana through archival footage, TikTok videos, and re-enactments. This history of the diaspora intersects with the fictional story of a journalist aboard an Afrofuturistic cruise ship hosting the transatlantic art biennale. BLKNWS: Terms & Conditions is an immersive course in Black history and an imagining of Black future told in free associative and mischievous rhythms.
