This World Premiere screening is followed by a Q&A with director Aidan Cronin.
Set against the backdrop of the dregs of an upstate New York summer, The Birds Tell Me All There Is To Know is a meditative and emotionally-laden examination of its two central characters, Paul and Sam, whose respective lives are changing with the seasons. Paul is a retired painter living with dementia, and Sam is a young woman grappling with the death of her father and her closest friend’s upcoming move away. Though they are separated by age, this character-driven story unites the two in their shared losses and resounding loneliness. Nostalgia permeates through filmmaker Aidan Cronin’s camcorder lens, which leaves us with an unmistakably familiar feeling in the pit of our stomachs. This deeply-felt feature debut grants us a glimpse of ourselves in the humbly performed Paul and Sam, just as they see themselves in one another.
