REALITY’s dialogue comes directly from the 2017 FBI interrogation transcript of US Air Force veteran and former NSA translator Reality Winner. Tina Satter’s striking directorial debut, based on her play “Is This a Room,” unfolds with intricacy and tension as Reality is questioned on suspicion of leaking NSA documents regarding Russian interference in the 2016 election. As one ordinary citizen’s choices suddenly reveal US government secrets, REALITY raises questions about the obligation citizens have to one another, to their country, and to the world.
